Prospects and the pipeline

How a shop goes from an idea to a customer, and how to keep track of the ones in between.

Español

A prospect is a shop you would like to sell to. It is an ordinary store in the app, in the lead or pending status, so everything you record about it — contacts, notes, the products it might carry — stays with it when it becomes a customer. Nothing is copied or lost on the way.

Every prospect has a seller: the person chasing it. A shop you add is yours. Staff can move a prospect to somebody else, which is also how a leaver's shops are handed on.

Log each touch on the store's page: a visit, a call, a message. If you set a next follow-up date, the pipeline sorts by it, and anything overdue is flagged. A shop with no date is listed last, because a lead nobody has scheduled is the one most likely to be forgotten.

Mark how warm each prospect is, from hot to cold, as the table below explains. The pipeline sorts and filters by it, and by person and by a search. A chain managed centrally appears there once, with its branches under it.

Guess how many of each product the shop would sell a week under Products, and set the price that shop would pay. Those two are what the pipeline values a prospect at, and what your projected earnings are worked out from — the price as much as the quantity. Change them as you learn more.

Recording the first delivery moves a prospect to active on its own. A prospect that says no is marked lost, with a reason; it leaves the pipeline but keeps its history.
