Chains and their branches

A chain is a shop with its branches under it, and what managed centrally changes.

Español

A chain is a store with other stores under it, its branches. It goes one level deep: a chain has no chain above it, and a branch has no branches of its own. Chains are under Logistics, and a chain's page has a Branches tab. To add a branch, choose the chain on the shop's edit form.

A chain can be only a buying office, with no shop to deliver to, or a shop in its own right. An office is kept off routes, the delivery lists and the public where-to-buy page. Untick Only a buying office, not a shop when the head office is also a shop.

Managed centrally marks a chain whose one buyer decides for every branch. The pipeline then shows it as one entry, and only those who manage the chain can add branches to it. Any other chain is open to any shop.

Anyone who can add a shop can make a chain. A socio sees a chain's details, its notes and contacts, through a branch of theirs, but not its deliveries or money.
