Print receipts from Android with Chrome or RawBT
Print a receipt from an Android phone in one tap with Chrome, or through the RawBT app for printers that only use older Bluetooth.
On an Android phone, printing lives right under the receipt rather than in the title bar, because the Bluetooth printer is the point of the page. There are two ways in, and Chrome shows you both.
Chrome: print straight from the page
- Open Artisanly in Chrome and record the visit. Its receipt opens.
- Tap Print receipt.
- The first time, Chrome lists the Bluetooth printers nearby. Choose yours, a PT-210 for example, and confirm. If Android asks to allow Bluetooth or nearby devices for Chrome, allow it.
- The page says Sent to the printer. when the receipt has gone.
After that, each receipt prints in one tap to the same printer for as long as the app stays open. Nothing needs installing, and the printer doesn't need pairing in Android's own Bluetooth settings first.
RawBT: for printers that only speak older Bluetooth
Chrome can only reach printers that use Bluetooth Low Energy. Some printers only use the older kind of Bluetooth and never appear in Chrome's list. For those, use the free RawBT app.
- Install RawBT from Google Play and pair your printer in it once.
- On a receipt in Chrome, tap Print with RawBT.
- RawBT receives the receipt and prints it on the paired printer.
In a browser that can't reach Bluetooth printers at all, the receipt shows a single Print receipt button that goes through RawBT, with a note that RawBT is needed and a Get RawBT link to install it.
What gets printed
Both ways send exactly the same receipt, laid out for 58mm paper at 32 characters a line, with the Spanish accents encoded the way these printers expect. If one way gives you trouble, the other is worth trying. If neither prints, see the article on printing problems.
