Commissions
How a partner price becomes an earning, how volume improves it, and how it is paid out.
In this section: Sellers and commissions4
A team member buys each unit at their partner price and sells it to the shop at whatever price is agreed there. What they earn is the difference, on every unit the shop is charged for. Each shop has one seller, and the seller is who earns there; whoever opens a prospect is its seller, and an admin can change it on the shop's page, under Commission.
What a unit costs them comes from the organisation's partner prices, under Settings. A tier says: from this many units sold in a calendar month, every further unit costs this much. Prices fall as volume rises, so selling more is worth more twice over. Tiers are marginal — crossing a threshold never re-prices what was already sold — and units are counted across every shop the person is the seller of. A price typed on a shop's own page still wins over the tiers for that shop and product.
Because the earning is a difference rather than a fee, the shop price is the earner's to argue for. Talk a shop up from $30.00 to $35.00 a unit and the whole $5.00 is theirs; the organisation is paid its partner price either way. A shop talked below the partner price earns nothing on those units rather than owing anything.
Earnings accrue automatically when a delivery is recorded. That is deliberate: a delivery is the only thing that earns commission, and doing it in the database means no way of recording a visit can miss it. A line that straddles a threshold is recorded as two lines, one at each price. Each line keeps both figures it was worked out from, so it can always say what it was.
Sold means what the shop was charged for — units delivered on a direct shop, units sold on a consignment one. Free replacements are charged at nothing and so earn nothing.
Payouts are recorded separately, the same way shop payments are: a payout settles some or all of what has accrued. Changing a tier or a shop price never changes what was already earned.
